Are you tired of being dependent on gatekeepers
to get your arts practice off the ground?
Do you want to stand out from the crowd and make a difference?
In our brand new, original workshop, The Artist and Administrator,
you’ll learn how to unleash your inner administrator,
create your own opportunities and get paid to make your art!
Lots of artists repeatedly miss the mark when they try to absolve themselves from the real-world implications of art making. Administration is surprisingly creative, empowering, and guaranteed to give your art the competitive edge it needs to get noticed by audiences and creative partners. This workshop will demystify the role that administration plays in your arts practice and help you make more informed decisions about navigating a career in the arts.
All proceeds raised for this workshop will be used to fund our 2SLGBTQ+ Arts Jam program for queer and trans youth in Simcoe County, Ontario.

Admin is the Human Element
Framing administration as care work and how your artistic pursuits interact with the world around you.
In Part Two, participants will receive a crash course on all things administration. Jam-packed with practical resources and advice, this portion of the workshop will help you start well on your next artistic project and help bring your vision to life.
Putting It Together
Where do I start? This introduction will help you discover your own unique path to put your project into action.
The remainder of Part Two will provide guidance and resources for the following components of administration: Research, Artist Statements, Project Planning, Leadership, Communication & Correspondence, Fundraising, Finance, Marketing, Equity & Pluralism, Human Resources, Long-term Planning, and more!
At the end of both parts (three hours with one break), the live training will open up to a one hour Q&A and shared learning session with the instructor and participants.
